The American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal (hereinafter “AmCham”), headquartered at Rua D. Estefânia 155-5º esq 1000-154 Lisbon, is the entity responsible for collecting and processing your personal data, for the purposes mentioned in this Policy Privacy.

AmCham is committed to protecting your privacy and, in this context, has prepared this Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate its commitment and respect for the rules of privacy and protection of personal data.

AmCham undertakes to process your personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to data processing and the free movement of personal data.

1.Personal Data

When we refer to personal data, we refer to any information, of any nature and regardless of the respective support, including sound and image, relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, directly or indirectly.

2. Data collection and purposes

Personal Data is collected and processed for the purposes of managing the relationship established between the Member and AmCham, which includes the following processing activities: registration, fee collection, sending the Newsletter, sending invitations to events and/or other communications necessary for the pursuit of its activity.

AmCham also processes personal data of individuals who register for events promoted by it, having a legitimate interest in sending them, in the future, invitations to events and/or other communications necessary for the pursuit of its activity, without prejudice to the data subject opposes this treatment through the channels made available for this purpose.

3. Data storage

In the strict sense of compliance with personal data protection legislation, the Personal Data in question are stored in specific databases created for this purpose, and under no circumstances will the Personal Data collected be used for any purpose other than those mentioned. in the previous number.

The period of time during which the data is stored and kept varies according to the purpose for which the information is processed.

Effectively, there are legal requirements that oblige you to keep data for a minimum period of time. AmCham guarantees the security of your data, including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, with appropriate technical or organizational measures being adopted.

AmCham is committed to ensuring the protection of the security of the personal data made available to us. Compliance with these rules constitutes an inescapable obligation of all those who legally access them.

To ensure the security of User Data and maximum confidentiality, we treat the information you provide to us in an absolutely confidential manner, in accordance with our internal security and confidentiality policies and procedures, which are periodically updated as needed, as well as in accordance with the legally prescribed terms and conditions.

Depending on the nature, scope, context and purposes of data processing, as well as the risks arising from the processing to the rights and freedoms of the User, AmCham undertakes to apply, both when defining the means of processing as at the time of processing itself, the necessary and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the User’s data and comply with legal requirements.

It also undertakes to ensure that, by default, only the data necessary for each specific purpose of the treatment are processed and that such data are not made available without human intervention to an indefinite number of people.

5. What are your rights?

The data subject is guaranteed the right of access, rectification, limitation, opposition, portability and elimination of their personal data, which may take place via email: amchamportugal@mail.telepac.pt.

6. Additional information about potential recipients of your personal data

AmCham may need to share some of your personal data with other recipients. These include:

  • Subcontractors who provide certain services relating to your personal data under a subcontract and for the sole purpose of providing technical assistance to AmCham.
  • When required by law through court notification, search warrant or other permissible legal procedure;
  • When explicitly requested by the holder.
