AmCham Thanksgiving dinner

AmCham Thanksgiving dinner

What an evening!

On November 26, at the Marriott Hotel, our Members and our friends from the US Embassy, Fulbright and FLAD came together to celebrate one of the most important American traditions: Thanksgiving.

António Martins da Costa welcomed the guests and, in a short conversation with Kristin Kane, Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, they talked about what Thanksgiving means to the American people, and Kristin shared her own family experience of these celebrations.

And then the one thing the party could not do without came into the room: the TURKEY…. which was carved by António, by Elmar Derkitsch, General Manager of the Marriott, and by Tiago Lima, Director of External Relations of Coca-Cola in Portugal.

Manuel Correia, GM of DXC, and Miguel Almeida, GM of Cisco, then shared with us what they and their guests were thankful for.

Next, Otília Reis welcomed everyone on behalf of Fulbright and asked an American grantee to share memories of celebrating Thanksgiving and a Portuguese grantee to tell how she had celebrated the holiday while in the US.

Thanksgiving is associated with solidarity, sharing and “giving back”, so we wanted this to be an evening in which these principles were present, and we therefore supported Refood, having the great pleasure of hearing Hunter Halder tell us how Refood was born, connecting people with one another and, above all, motivating everyone to show solidarity.

WE ARE THANKFUL TO ALL THAT HAVE BEEN PRESENT TO CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING WITH US.
