PRIVACY POLICY The American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal (hereinafter “AmCham”), headquartered at Rua D. Estefânia 155-5º esq 1000-154 Lisboa, is the entity responsible for collecting and processing your personal data for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. AmCham is committed to protecting your privacy and, in this context, has drawn up this Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate its commitment to and respect for the rules on privacy and the protection of personal data. AmCham undertakes to process your personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.

Personal Data are collected and processed for the purpose of managing the relationship established between the Member and AmCham, which includes the following processing activities: registration, collection of fees, sending the Newsletter, sending invitations to events and/or other communications necessary for carrying out its activity. AmCham also processes the personal data of natural persons who register for the events it promotes, and thereby has a legitimate interest in sending them, in the future, invitations to events and/or other communications necessary for carrying out its activity, without prejudice to the data subject's right to object to this processing through the channels made available for that purpose.
  1. Data storage
In strict compliance with personal data protection legislation, the Personal Data in question are stored in specific databases created for that purpose, and under no circumstances will the Personal Data collected be used for any purpose other than those mentioned in the previous section. The period during which the data are stored and retained varies according to the purpose for which the information is processed. There are, in fact, legal requirements that oblige data to be kept for a minimum period of time. Therefore, and whenever there is no specific legal requirement, the data will be stored and retained only for the minimum period necessary for the purposes that led to their collection or subsequent processing, after which they will be deleted. AmCham guarantees the security of your data, including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, by adopting appropriate technical or organizational measures.

AmCham is committed to ensuring the security of the personal data made available to us. Compliance with these rules is a binding obligation for everyone who has lawful access to such data. To guarantee the security of the User's Data and maximum confidentiality, we treat the information you have provided to us in the strictest confidence, in accordance with our internal security and confidentiality policies and procedures, which are updated periodically as needed, as well as in accordance with the legally established terms and conditions. Taking into account the nature, scope, context and purposes of the data processing, as well as the risks arising from the processing for the User's rights and freedoms, AmCham undertakes to apply, both when determining the means of processing and at the time of the processing itself, the technical and organizational measures necessary and appropriate to protect the User's data and to comply with legal requirements. It further undertakes to ensure that, by default, only the data necessary for each specific purpose of the processing are processed and that such data are not made available, without human intervention, to an indefinite number of people.

The data subject is guaranteed the right of access, rectification, restriction, objection, portability and erasure of their personal data, which may be exercised by email at: amchamportugal@mail.telepac.pt.

AmCham may need to share some of your personal data with other recipients. These include:
  • Processors who provide certain services relating to your personal data under a processing agreement, for the sole purpose of providing technical assistance to AmCham.
  • When required by law through a court notice, search warrant or other admissible legal procedure;
  • When explicitly requested by the data subject.
