From September 24 to 26, AmCham Portugal, in collaboration with AmChams in Europe (ACE), had the privilege of welcoming to Lisbon 56 representatives of 31 AmChams for the ACE Best Practices Sharing Conference 2024. This event provided a unique opportunity to foster knowledge sharing and strengthen ties between American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) across Europe.
September 25: The first day of the BPSC program opened with Welcome Remarks by the ACE President, Ajša Vodnik, followed by the presentation of the annual AmChams in Europe Benchmark Survey, led by Elias Spirtounias.
Lunch took place at the iconic Electricity Museum, with a stunning view over the Tagus River. The President of AmCham Portugal, António Martins da Costa, presented EDP and Portugal’s ambitious energy transition goals, a topic of great relevance for the country and for the future of energy in Europe. In the afternoon, BPSC participants explored the core pillars of AmChams’ work: networking and sharing good practice, advocacy and member empowerment. These sessions provided a valuable space for sharing ideas and good practice. The day ended with a visit to Cascais, where participants enjoyed a memorable dinner overlooking the bay.
September 26: The second and final day of the BPSC program began with a briefing by AmCham EU, which provided an up-to-date perspective from Brussels on the issues affecting transatlantic relations. This was followed by a productive meeting of the ACE Board, where strategic topics for the future of the network were discussed.
The group was welcomed at FLAD (Luso-American Development Foundation) by its President, Nuno de Morais Sarmento, where lunch was held, followed by the Creative Network Presentations, in which 5 AmChams were in the spotlight, presenting their innovative initiatives.
And the winning AmCham was… AmCham Finland! Well done!
After the CNA, BPSC participants enjoyed a TukTuk tour of Lisbon’s historic streets, followed by a walk through the Baixa and dinner in the lively Chiado neighborhood!
After days of knowledge sharing, innovation, networking and collaboration, the AmChams in Europe Best Practices Sharing Conference came to a close with great enthusiasm and anticipation for the next meeting. We are extremely proud to have hosted an event that strengthened transatlantic relations and fostered cooperation among AmChams.
September 27: The delegates’ fourth day in Portugal was an optional extra day and not part of the BPSC program. It was an opportunity for a pleasant trip to explore and discover the charms of Sintra!
September 24: It was particularly interesting that the BPSC took place this week, allowing the delegates to also attend TBS 2024 and the AmCham International Gala Dinner.
