As part of AmCham Portugal’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the “AmCham 75 – Premium Dinner” took place yesterday, with José Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the Luso-American Development Foundation, former Prime Minister of Portugal and former President of the European Commission.

The meeting brought together business leaders from some of the leading Portuguese and American companies, in a truly exclusive setting of closeness, networking and sharing.

Under the Chatham House Rule, participants enjoyed a particularly memorable conversation – not only because of the relevance of the topics discussed, but above all because of the personal, warm and genuine nature of José Manuel Durão Barroso’s remarks.

Throughout the dinner, he shared stories, experiences and behind-the-scenes insights from a unique career at the highest level of national, European and international politics, giving those present a rare and privileged view of decisive moments in recent European history and in transatlantic relations.

Topics discussed during the session included:

– Europe’s role in an increasingly unstable international context;

– The importance of the transatlantic relationship for global economic and political stability;

– The challenges facing Western democracies today;

– Portugal’s position as a strategic partner in relations between Europe and the United States.

More than an institutional address, it was a moment of genuine sharing, strategic reflection and very close dialogue, which made this edition of AmCham 75 especially memorable for all participants.

AmCham Portugal thanks Prof. Durão Barroso and all the participants for attending this initiative, part of AmCham’s 75th anniversary celebrations, reaffirming its commitment to continue fostering high-level dialogue between business, institutional and political leaders.
