Organized by U.S. Embassy in Lisbon, Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP) | Strategic Mission Partner: AmCham Portugal

The U.S. Ambassador to Portugal, Randi Charno Levine, and the President of the AICEP, Filipe Costa, will jointly trade and investment mission to Washington, D.C., and New York from October 23- 25.

The designed trade mission activities will focus on the U.S.-Portugal trade and investment partnership, highlighting shared opportunities . The Mission delegation include eight senior Portuguese business executives from strategically important industries, including renewable energy & critical minerals, automotive & electric mobility, and chemical sectors.

The trade and investment mission to the US, which took place from October 23 to 25, made it possible to establish contacts between American and Portuguese entities with a view to strengthening bilateral relations and attracting new investment on both sides of the Atlantic, mainly in the field of energy.

This initiative played a very important role in giving the participating companies a deeper understanding of the American landscape regarding the energy transition. High-level meetings were held, including with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Export-Import Bank of the United States, as well as with J.P. Morgan and Bloomberg, in Washington DC and New York, where shared opportunities and the importance of secure supply chains in the energy sectors were highlighted.

The discussions addressed the importance of transatlantic best practices in the context of the energy transition, as well as the transition of American and Portuguese companies to a green economy. Industry’s commitment to sustainability issues was also highlighted.

After the mission, the companies had the opportunity to attend, and some took part as speakers in, the sixth edition of the “Portugal Economic Forum”, organized by AICEP. This event highlighted Portugal’s potential in the green economy and sustainable mobility.

In addition, it was very important to give visibility to the initiatives of leading Portuguese companies in these fields, revealing emerging opportunities in Portugal, highlighting the country’s prominent position in several areas and sparking the potential interest of American companies.

We highlight the valuable opportunities for partnership, investment and trade in the green economy between the US and Portugal and underline the importance of mutual understanding in order to make the most of these opportunities and develop them.

We intend to continue working together to further strengthen our bilateral relationship.

The mission included Portuguese companies from strategic sectors, such as renewable energy and critical minerals, automotive and electric mobility, and chemicals, and we thank all the Portuguese business leaders who contributed to the success of this mission: Pedro Pires João (EDP), Georgios Papadimitriou (Galp), André Pereira and Tiago Ornelas (ENDIPREV), João Castro (Grupo Visabeira), Angelo Ramalho and Ricardo S. (Efacec), Francisco Montanha Rebelo (A-to-Be – Brisa), Isabel Furtado (TMG) and João Pedro Koehler (Colquímica Adhesives).
