The Innovation Office is a WebShow, powered by AmCham Portugal in partnership with Altice Portugal (audiovisual support), focused on showcasing the best of innovation in Portugal across various sectors of the economy and technology. It serves as a platform for sharing how different organizations think, build, and deliver innovation, as well as the role of Portuguese leadership in promoting it. The show will be published biweekly.

It will feature discussions and the exchange of experiences and opinions on innovation, structured as a three-person conversation with two co-hosts and one guest. In 2022, Portugal ranked as the 30th most innovative country among 132 global economies, according to the Global Innovation Index (GII), published by Cornell University (USA), INSEAD (France), and the World Intellectual Property Organization. While Portugal’s potential is clear, its performance is less optimistic when compared to other European Union members. According to the 2023 European Innovation Scoreboard, Portugal is classified as a “Moderate Innovator” with a slower improvement rate than the EU average since 2016.

Innovation is on the agenda of many organizations in the country, but not all approach it with the same level of seriousness and commitment. Therefore, these roundtable discussions with those that do aim to serve as examples and inspiration for the broader community. The goal is for more leaders to recognize the opportunities that innovation represents and invest in its development—so that more organizations will have Chief Innovation Officers.
