John J. Arrigo was officially sworn in as the United States Ambassador to Portugal, and with his imminent arrival, AmCham Portugal is delighted to warmly welcome him and wishes every success in his mission.

The longstanding friendship and strong bilateral relations between our two countries are of great importance. About Ambassador Arrigo

John Joseph Arrigo is a visionary leader, successful entrepreneur, and respected community advocate. For over 30 years, he served as the owner and managing partner of Arrigo Automotive Group, which became one the largest privately held automotive groups in the United Sates. Arrigo Automotive Group sustained excellence and earned them the prestigious Walter P. Chrysler Award for Operational Excellence for nine consecutive years. The business grew to employ over 600 people across South Florida, fostering a dynamic and empowering workplace culture.

Throughout his career, Mr. Arrigo has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public service. A strong supporter of community advancement, the span of his philanthropic contributions far exceeds any single list – reflecting a sustained dedication to education, veteran support and civic enrichment. His giving spirit underscores a lifelong belief in strengthening communities through action, service and leadership.

As a candidate for Ambassador to Portugal, Mr. Arrigo brings a distinctive perspective shaped by decades of success in the automotive industry and deep understanding of domestic and international business dynamics. He is a graduate of Palm Beach State College, with a Associate Degree in Business Administration. With extensive leadership experience and genuine commitment to fostering positive relationships, Mr. Arrigo is uniquely positioned to strengthen the diplomatic and cultural ties between the United States and Portugal.
